Health and Safety

Re-Think has an excellent record with regard to Health and Safety.

Swiftwater rescue training is inherently dangerous. Our courses train you for the real conditions you may face on a rescue and take place on natural rivers with associated dangers.

Swiftwater rescue training involves swimming in fast flowing cold water; dangers include but are not limited to:

  • Drowning
  • Impact from rocks
  • Pollution

With regard to water quality; we advise eating before you get on the water and avoid eating/drinking when wet if practical.  Always wash hands with clean water before eating/drinking. Cover cuts with waterproof plasters.

If you fall ill shortly after attending a swiftwater programme (up to 31 days) please consult your doctor and ask for a test for leptospirosis.

Participants must be over 18 and regard themselves as strong swimmers (minimal of 100 metres in a pool).

All relevent medical conditions must be disclosed at booking.
